Abstract

|
|
The root segments derived from anther, pedicel and bulbil culture of garlic (Allium sativum) were cultured on MS medium containing NAA and BAP under a 16 h light at 25¡É. The results showed that the roots initiated from anther culture were found to be the best explant for shoot, multi-shoot, and root regeneration. The highest number of shoots were observed on the medium with 2.0 §·/§¤ of NAA and 3.0 §·/§¤ of BAP. Abundant plantlets were regenerated from abnormal root rather than normal one. The root from the size I (7¡¾3 §®) or the upper parts of pedicel produced shoots and roots more readily than those from the size II (15¡¾3 §®) or the lower parts of pedicel.
